This post includes details on The Sustainable Switch’s partnership program – including what we’re looking for, what we’re offering, and how you can become a member.
In January 2022, The Sustainable Switch made some big changes, including our primary focus as a business. In 2022, we will be focusing all of our efforts on the TV and film industry within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The GTA is a hub for TV and film production. The region hosts a full range of industry connections, suppliers, talent, crews, facilities, and locations offering anything required from pre- to post-production. Unfortunately, the one area that has been lacking is the availability of environmentally-friendly production amenities.
However, in 2021, the number of client requests for such amenities became so great that the City of Toronto is funding the development of two “power drops” at high-use locations, with plans to build more in the coming years. This push from industry members for more environmentally-friendly options has encouraged our firm to focus its efforts on helping production teams operate in a more efficient and conscious manner. As always, our firm will be focusing on true parity through our commitment to all 3 Pillars of Sustainability (economic, social, and environmental) in our work.

So where do our partners come in?
As a startup consulting firm, The Sustainable Switch has limited in-house consultants. That is why we have established a partnership program open to a wide range of local businesses and organizations. By leveraging our connections and establishing these partnerships, we will be able to successfully tackle problem areas for the industry, reduce waste, promote sustainability, and elevate local businesses.
Why work with us?
By being a partner with The Sustainable Switch you will have the opportunity to elevate and promote your business in Toronto and across the world. This could mean having your products on-screen, or it might mean helping our firm behind the scenes to make significant, lasting changes to operations.
While we are interested in establishing partnerships across a wide range of sectors, the following list includes examples of local partners we seek:
- Vintage Resellers (homeware, furniture & clothing)
- Ethical/eco-friendly clothing & jewelry brands
- Waste management innovators
- Clean beauty brands
- Organizations focusing on diversity, inclusivity, education, equality, or sustainability
- Locally and/or ethically-sourced materials
- Eco-friendly office supplies/packaging
If you do not belong to one of these areas but are interested in working with us, please reach out and we can discuss! We are confident we can find a way to work together.
How to apply
Now that you’ve decided you want to partner with our firm, all we need from you is to fill out our application form. The form includes a handful of questions about your business/organization and must be filled out in order to officially move forward in the partnership process.
Once you’ve submitted this form, a member of our team will get back to you within a 72-hour period. If approved, your business name and logo will be included on our website, and your organization will be added to our firms’ directory. Once you have been added to our directory, you will be considered for any relevant opportunities that arise.
Membership & fees
When it comes to membership, we don’t charge any fees. Joining our community of conscious local partners is free!
If you are a small social enterprise or non-profit organization, being a partner will always be free. However, when it comes to the jobs we facilitate with for-profit businesses, a small percentage of their earnings will go to our firm. Why is this? Well, our team will be facilitating jobs for you, but we will also be acting as the primary point of contact before, during, and after. We will be available to deal with any problems that may arise or work to help you meet your business goals.
